How She Makes It Work • Episode 01

Somewhere between a full-time job, a real budget, and a horse with opinions, she figured out how to make it work. We’re not saying it’s easy. We’re not saying it’s logical. We’re saying she does it anyway, and she was kind enough to tell us how.

I grew up riding gaited horses and then took a break while I got my career in order. When I came back to riding in my mid 30s, things were much different and I basically had to relearn everything from scratch. I fell in love with eventing and helping horses use their bodies to their fullest potential.

Lately I’ve been really enjoying learning about groundwork and conditioning while I shop for a new barn (we’re in the process of moving to a new area). I’ve been helping a former barn mate rehab her OTTB. The work is really rewarding and I’m learning a lot about how to take care of horses outside of riding. Hopefully I will find a lease at a new barn soon, though…I do miss riding. Eventually I would like to ownmy own horse (wouldn’t we all!) but finances make that a long-term goal right now.
